Ana Turkalj,born 1993 in Hainburg an der Donau (Austria), enjoyed her first contacts with the cello as a conveyor student by V. Malinovsky in Klosterneuburg and Vienna. In 2009 she began her studies at the Zurich School of Arts under Prof. O. Mandozzi. After a change to the Basel Academy, where she finished her Bachelor under Prof. I. Monighetti, she continued the Master Studies in Basel as a student of Prof. R. Rosenfeld. Prof. T. Demenga. In 2018 she successfully graduated Master Performance and Master Pedagogic with a focus fold at the piano and is continuing one Year School of Excellent by D. Ishizaka.
Decorated with first prizes in competitions in Austria, Italy, Croatia and Switzerland
(Amongst others: winner at “Prima la Musica“ 2003 and 2004 for cello-solo and 2009 for Pianotrio, at International Cello Competitions in Liezen 2002 and 2007, “Rudolf Matz“ in Dubrovnik 2006 and 2007, “Antonio Janigro“ in Porec and “Alpe Adria“ in Gorizia, Italy).
She also took Master Courses by renowned musicians like B. Greenhouse, B. Kushnir, R. Nagy, G. Sollima, G. Teutsch and S. Ozawa. Multiple concerts led her to Tokyo,
the “Grande Teatro – La Fenice“ in Venice, the “Mozarteum“ in Salzburg, the concert hall of “Musikverein“ in Vienna, as well as concert halls in Klagenfurt, Graz, Verona and Ljubljana. Performing several piano pieces as a child, she was also honored with an invitation by the Harvard University in Boston and was awarded for her own composed piece with a special price at the Wendl&Lung Piano Competition in Vienna.
